Shaan, the multifaceted, renowned Indian playback singer, lyricist, composer, and host of Zee TV’s “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” and other shows returns to the United States making San Jose one of a dozen stops in his nationwide tour. Shaan last headlined in North America in the summer of 2006.
Recent
shows in New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Nevada, and Florida prove Shaan’s
ability to create riveting stage performance as delivers a bevy of
Bollywood favorites, such as “Chand Sifarish” from the movie Fanaa,
“Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh” from the movie 3 Idiots, and “Jab Se Tere Naina”
from Saawariya.
Shaan, born
Shantanu Mukherjee, is the son of late music director Manas Mukherjee
and brother of pop sensation Sagarika. He began his music career at an
early age singing ad jingles. With no background in classical singing,
the self-taught composer fueled his appeal to young audiences through
not only his remixes, but also his popular ballads on albums such as
Tanha Dil.
Along with Shaan’s
team of musicians and dancers, the three hour-performance will also
feature upcoming singers Aishwarya and Shadab.
Ahmedebad-based
Aishwarya Majmudar peaked at the sprightly age of 15 after winning the
“Star Plus” reality music show “Amul Star Voice of India Chhote Ustad”
in 2008. Since her win, Aishwarya has experienced a meteoric rise in
Bollywood encompassing stage, playback performances, albums, and TV
shows.
Shadab Faridi brings a
unique style of singing from his early weaning in both Indian classical
as well as the Sufi style of music learned within his renowned family of
classical musicians. Shadab’s father is the legendary Sufi singer
Mehtab Faridi of the Sharanpur gharana, a specific school of music
catering to a particular compositional and instrumental style.
